Dentist-turned-artist/designer Kuang-Yi Ku kicked off with a talk about his peculiar but intriguing projects, demonstrating interdisciplinary practices of bio-art and art+science. He challenges medical paradigms through art and design. For example, Ku created artificial animal parts to replace the use of real ones (thus helping protect threatened species), pioneered the first dating app for pets, and explored a dental procedure that will make you better at giving oral sex.

As a movement, Bio-art brings new ideas and possibilities to the world, through the combination of art/design and emerging biotechnologies. During the second talk, Kuang-Yi Ku introduced some Bio-art projects from all over the world. He also shared how these works influence his perception and inspire him to develop his own art+science projects.
