EHV Innovation Café – City Vision Event Featuring Walter Baets – Wicked Problems Officer Eindhoven Engine: Love your problem, not your solution Ankita Durani & Joseph Zekry – fostering international inclusion in the Brainport region Moderated by Anne Ligtenberg

10 OCT 2024 | City Vision Event

Welcome to the Eindhoven Innovation Café. Join us to discuss the future vision of our city over drinks and networking, featuring ‘Love your problem, not your solution’ professor Walter Baets (Wicked Problems Officer at Eindhoven Engine), Ankita Durani and Joseph Zekry (iBUiLT, fostering international inclusion in the Brainport region).

We are also excited to announce that Eindhoven start-up and 2024 Gerard & Anton Award winner, Dembrane, will be present with their advanced software. They promise that all voices will be heard and no good idea will be lost. A great tool for this democratic process, don’t you think?

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to be part of the conversation and contribute to the future of Eindhoven!

Eindhoven is growing fast and the world is facing huge challenges. What can we envision to ensure an attractive and enduring habitat for future generations? Which experiments and prototypes are needed to stay a step ahead? What can we learn from other cities? This is the moment to connect the superpowers of our regional ecosystems.

Special Guests

Walter Baets – Wicked Problems Officer at Eindhoven Engine
‘We are trained to simplify complex problems, leading to non-relevant solutions. However, in today’s complex world, problems need deep understanding within their systemic and stakeholder contexts. Major challenges include exponential technologies, an exhausted planet, and an individualistic worldview. Solutions should come from empathizing with those affected, co-creating understanding, and collaborating towards shared solutions. Hence start loving your problem (area), rather than your solution.’

Walter Baets is Professor Emeritus at the University of Cape Town and Wicked Problems Officer at Eindhoven Engine. He is an expert in complexity and the quantum interpretation of innovation and transformation. His career spans seven countries and two continents, with notable roles in academia and strategic consulting. Baets has authored several key publications on business, innovation, and leadership. He is also a photographer and part-time shepherd, practicing the art of ‘being’ in his personal life.
