Sharing the Vibe, Building the Bond
How do you build real connections in a world full of noise? At the Eindhoven Innovation Café (EiC), we believe it starts with showing up, sharing ideas, and being open to unexpected encounters.
This Thursday, we dive into how tech and design and storytelling can help foster meaningful connections—on campus, at EiC, in the city, and beyond.
Industrial Design student Pelin Sevinç and her fellow TU/e students will share insights from their playful research into the EiC community. Using cultural probes and interactive tools, they uncovered how diverse visitors connect, collaborate, and grow their networks through the power of curiosity.
We’ll also hear from branding visionary Peter Kentie, who helped shape Eindhoven’s international identity with the award-winning Share the Vibe strategy. With a background in design and marketing, Peter shows how openness and creativity can unite a city—and inspire a movement.

TU/e students – Connecting the Eindhoven Innovation Café
Industrial Design student Pelin Sevinç discovered the value of the Eindhoven Innovation Café (EiC) while speaking there on behalf of student team CASA. Surprised that many peers were unaware of the events, she emphasized: “It’s in our own interest to start networking during our studies. The EiC community is diverse, open, and truly lives the Give-to-Grow principle. I even found my internship at ByFlow after meeting the CEO there.”
Together with Femke Veenvliet, Zachary Monaghan, Joey Hobrecker, and Lieke van Daal, Pelin launched a design research project to explore how connections form within the EiC community. Using cultural probes, interactive mapping, and digital tools, they engaged visitors to map their social interactions and networking journeys. The results offer fresh insights into how the EiC fosters meaningful connections—both professional and personal.
Peter Kentie – Connecting the Eindhoven Vibe
Peter Kentie, former director of Eindhoven365, dedicated 12.5 years to shaping the city’s brand strategy and marketing activation. With a background in design and marketing, Peter is deeply passionate about design, technology, and Eindhoven itself. His mission: to build and share knowledge—freely and openly. He also supported Estonia in developing their nation branding and currently serves as honorary consul for the country.
Eindhoven’s marketing success is rooted in a broad-based, innovative approach—most notably its open-source brand strategy. This award-winning methodology is documented in Peter’s book Share the Vibe of Eindhoven. The title can be taken literally: over a hundred contributors from the city marketing network helped shape it by sharing their knowledge and experiences.
Peter’s work shows how cities can position themselves authentically and powerfully in an ever-changing world.
