There are many many attempts out there that are aimed at combating the prevalence of overweight and obesity, either preventative or treatment. These can be apps, diets, municipality initiatives, school initiatives, and business to business services, but none of these are successful in contributing significantly to prevalence reduction, particularly in children. Why? Because it is hard to change behavior, specifically eating behavior. The game-changer will be a combination of a smart, innovative, proven cognitive behavioral therapy approach embedded within an appealing, easy-to-use, rewarding, gamified app, and a market delivery through an innovative comprehensive business strategy.
Lars Mulder (EIT Digital) Discussed their solution to this problem. It makes use of the advent of AI and the connected world, with an algorithm capable of understanding and predicting each individual’s eating behavior by learning from the individual and all other users and can perform a personalized intervention at vulnerable moments.
