Lady Justitia wears a blindfold. She does not wish to see who is in front of here. She justs wants to know what interests are at stake. Equal interests are weighed equally. Since Justitia is blindfolded, this principle should apply to all that have interests, including animals, plants and other beings. Erno Eskens discussed the idea of a legal personhood for all beings and nature itself.

Erno Eskens is philosopher and political scientist. In 2009 he published Democratie voor Dieren (democracy for animals), which was followed in 2015 by Een Beestachtige Geschiedenis van de Filosofie (A Beastly History of Philosophy, PHD-thesis ). Eskens is publisher at Noordboek.
