Robots are increasingly being used to teach children to count or to learn a (second) language. However, the introduction of robots in education poses new (moral) challenges. How do we deal with privacy, children who see robots as friends and secrets they tell the robots. During this presentation we will go deeper into these questions and present the SAMbuddy storytelling hug.

Matthijs Smakman is a senior lecturer at the Institute for ICT at Hogeschool Utrecht and a PhD student at VU Amsterdam. His research focuses on the ethical issues surrounding robotization in education. Sam Leewis is a university lecturer at the Institute for ICT at Hogeschool Utrecht and a PhD student at the Open University.
