Beauty, and how it is experienced is a radical act of self-care and brings people together, both physically and digitally. Superficiality is a creative outlet and tool that is important to the design process. How can we explore our identities by using cosmetic data? And how can we experience beauty practices by merging the physical and digital worlds?

Ava Asaadi designs experiences that explore the physical and digital world of beauty. Her work investigates cosmetics’ materials, tools, and contexts to subvert the concept of superficiality and instead recognises cosmetics as raw materials for exploring alternative identities. In this talk, Ava will share her research on the process of beautification and invites guests to participate in the discussion.
