Testing over 40000 biological specimen has proven the Superformula to be a superior model for the natural sciences. The shapes described by this Superformula, a.k.a. Gielis Transformations, are found everywhere: in nature from the very small to the very large. This invention that was invented 25 years ago is used all over the world, even in fields like economy. Applications emerge in many different technologies, from lasers to nanotechnology.
Johan has co-founded Genicap Beheer BV to develop applications using the Gielis formula, and the Antenna Company focusing on novel antenna technologies. During this talk, Johan will elaborate on how the history of the living world can be summarized as the elaboration of ever more perfect eyes within a cosmos in which there is always more to be seen.
